Skene Group started concrete and lightweight block manufacturing in the mid 1990’s and is Scotland’s leading multi-product manufacturer and supplier. Delivering throughout the country, our own fleet of vehicles compliment the Group’s other construction products.

The block division produces a wide variety of sizes, strengths, textures and densities made for the volume and specialist market from our 2 production units at Crossgates in Fife and now also at our Soutra Quarry just south of Edinburgh.

Skene Group quarries supply the bulk of the component materials required for production. These in-house aggregates provide the plant with the ability to produce large volumes of consistent products.

To complement our existing range of blocks, we have recently developed two new 100% lightweight aggregate blocks, the GlenSupaLite and an intermediate low density block, the GlenXtraLite. Both of these blocks have a lower density than most other available medium dense blocks, so have a lower unit weight, giving benefits in terms of manual handling and productivity. These blocks also provide a considerably improved thermal performance at an economical rate giving the specifier and user options and a choice of solutions.

We have also developed a 20kg 300mm wide trench block. This highly economical product can outperform other trench blocks in the market place.

These products along with our traditional dense standard, paint grade and thermal blocks provide a one stop shop for our extensive customer base.

All products are tested and monitored at our on-site laboratory and comply with the BS EN 771:3 Specification for Masonry Units.
